The Motearcycle Diaries

A blog initially documenting a surprisingly successful attempt to ride solo from Buenos Aires to Quito, from March to June, 2011, and then subsequent travels of mine.
All set for Budapest.
(Sadly not taking the moto helmet).

The crossing from San Pedro de Atacama across into Bolivia to Uyuni was some of the hardest riding I have ever done. Land Cruisers are the fastest vehicle in the world and not the easiest things to keep up with at 3000m altitude with a 600cc single and 0 real off road experience.

Somewhere in the Atacama, near Antofagasta. Miss the old tractor and having to bungee cord everything to her every morning.

R.I.P. Lonesome George.
Lonesome George was a a tortoise, the last of his kind. A Pinta Island Tortoise, he was a subspecies of the Galápagos tortoise, and was the rarest creature in the whole world. There was even a reward to anyone who could locate a female Pinta Island tortoise so that they would not become extinct.
Sadly, it was announced today that Lonesome George had died, and with him a whole breed of tortoise that this world will never see again.

Owh.
